Ninjas in Pyjamas are through to the semi-final stage at DreamHack Masters Malmö after seeing off Virtus.pro 2-0 (16-12 on Cache and Train). Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg opened the game up on Cache with trio of kills to hold the B site and give NiP the first round of the game. The Swedish team followed that up by taking the corresponding anti-ecos, but when Virtus.pro bought up the impetus of the game changed completely as the Polish team took three rounds straight to equalise the score. A great crossfire setup in B during an afterplant then allowed NiP to retake the lead and triggered a fantastic run from the Swedes that not even a tactical pause from Virtus.pro could stop. With no margin for error, Virtus.pro dug deep and went on a massive run to reduce the deficit to 10-12. Richard "Xizt" Landström then finally brought the Polish team's streak to an end with a trio of kills inside A, and even though Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas's men hit back right after, they were never able to cancel out NiP's lead as the home side locked down the map 16-12.
Next up was Train, Virtus.pro's pick, and it was a one-sided affair for most of the first half: NiP's economic control was simply crushing, and every round won by the Polish team was quickly countered by the Swedes, who got out to a 10-2 lead. Much to everyone's surprise, Virtus.pro refused to call a tactical pause, but still managed to cut the gap to five byt the end of the half to keep their hopes alive. However, things went from bad to worse for Virtus.pro right after as NiP picked up the first three rounds of the second half to enlarge their lead. With SMGs and an AWP, NiP gave away the first gun round of the half, but rallied back right after to get within touching distance of match point. Powered by a triple kill from Paweł "byali" Bieliński in an A push, Virtus.pro put together a small run of rounds and brought the scoreline to 10-14, when a crucial triple kill from f0rest put NiP on the verge of victory. It would take NiP a while to get their 16th round on the board, but the Swedish giants did not falter as they picked up another 16-12 victory to continue a fantastic run in Malmö.
